Toying around with fractal trees
fractal, tree
This is very nice. I think it has applications in system studies as well with some tweaking (e.g. set rainfall and sunshine and soil factors that affect growth). "Cut down forest" is harsh, because it is such a pretty forest, but I guess they are just virtual trees and easy to re-grow, so...
It's very beautiful, and also mesmerizing to plant trees and watch them grow. I like this interactive artwork!
This is a great one to be mixed into others. Great technique, and one I can see being applied to many visual patterns.
Thanks jd555, I don't know about the factors that affect growth but I guess it could be an interesting project. Take good care of your forests :), since every tree is randomly generated, each forest is virtually unique ;)
Thanks cmurakami, The growing effect is pretty neat. I got inspired by an idea in the great book "Turtles, Termites and Traffic Jams" by Mitchel Resnick. I highly recommend this book.
Thanks teefal, I also made a project for drawing Sierpinski triangles using a similar technique. I didn't upload it because I don't like the result so far
