Este cuento es ideal para los que desean comenzar a estudiar o a ensenar Etoys.

El original en ingles fue usado en un proyecto piloto en las Islas Virgenes.

Los estudiantes escriben texto, hacen ilustraciones y las animan.

Presentan todo en un libro.

Wow! I'm honored, having done the original. I love the drawings, particularly the genie. My spanish is very poor ... good thing I know the story!

One thing to improve things ...

1) switch to English in languages

2) double click each text bit and type the english equivalent

3) switch back between spanish and english to see that the languages are switching

Not sure what to do about the audio .. must think about this.

This is a great translation of the book, but it has some problems. Clicking through it quickly makes the audio run on top of any audio that hasn't played out yet. Otherwise, it's a great project.

The genie was drawn using a XO computer like the ones distributed to the school children in Uruguay.

We followed your explanations at the Virgin Islands pilot, we selected a professional drawing and traced it using the XO in a fashion very similar to what we used to do at school working against a window pane to see the original while tracing.

This translation was prepared as a means of following your videos explaining how to use Etoys. I do not consider it a project of my own. The translation as such has no other merit than helping spanish speaking viewers not familiar with Etoys to appreciate some of the many nice things that may be done by users like me who are just starting.

We published it to make it easier for us to share it.

Also, we wanted to make sure we are able to upload and share a project before we tell others how easy it is.

Congratulations once again to all of you at Squeakland for the great job you did and keep doing.

Your comment provided the perfect opportunity to demonstrate a very important use of Etoys and the computers in the schools.

Children are enjoying not only all the advantages of learning as a consequence of programming but also are learning to work in groups:

I did something. You suggested an improvement. I liked your suggestion. Will try to implement the improvement. If I cannot I will go to the forums and ask for help.

Children are also learning that groups don't have to be integrated exclusively with classmates. They may as easily be groups like you and me. I wonder if we are even in the same continent but it doesn't matter. We enrich each other's experience.

En efecto, es un proyecto excelente.
A mi personalmente, seguir este curso de las Islas Virgenes via Internet me ayudó mucho para entender algunas de las posibilidades de Etoys: lo que es un libro, y el concepto de siblings, por ejemplo.

En realidad Etoys (o Squeak) tiene un montón de Morphs extremadamente útiles (como los multimedia) pero de los que es muy dificil encontrar documentación y, si la hay, está muy dispersa.

Para finalizar, un pequeño detalle práctico: cuando ejecuto el proyecto, cada vez que salto a la página siguiente me aparece la ventana del Debugger, aunque, aparentemente, todo sigue funcionando una vez cerrada ésta.
