Description

An Etoys model of a spinning Earth orbiting the sun while a spinning moon orbits the Earth. Use it model to discuss lunar months, solar years and models. How is it different from the real Moon and Earth?

I really like this project. It is completely self-explanatory, but also gives a great visual of a simple, but hard-to-grasp concept of the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun.

This is a great little project, straight to the point, has an obvious interpretation and focuses on an important area of science. A small suggestion, it might be improved by using time periods instead of speeds. For example "moonbug's orbitspeed", rather than being explicitly given, could be calculated from a "moonbug's orbittime" (which would be around 28 days). This would relate the simulation even more firmly to reality.
